Seasonal Colors, Leaves, Plants

Leaves, branches and foliage are frequently featured in folk art paintings, stitchery and decorations to fill in the landscape of the piece of artwork. With most peasant or folk art, species of tree and foliage will usually match the type of tree most commonly grown in the geographic region in which the artist lives or is most familiar. Breadfruit leaves appear in Hawaiian island snowflake quilt designs, apple trees appear in in Washington statefolk art, and spruce pineapple galls appear in peasant art in Norway.
